Nesbit Middle Years Program:
6th - 8th Grades

An International Baccalaureate Candidacy School

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme® (MYP)

Building a solid academic foundation, the MYP develops students’ confidence in managing their own learning and making connections between their learning in the classroom and the real world.

Our Nesbit Middle School staff has undertaken the comprehensive training and planning process to bring the IB MYP program to our school. Nesbit has earned IB candidacy and is launching our MYP for the 2023-2024 school year.

IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and life-long learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and to the real world. It fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement, qualities that are essential for life in the 21st century.

Nesbit IB MYP Mission Statement

Chromebooks

Nesbit Middle School Students will be issued a Chromebook for use both at school and at home.  Once assigned to a child, the Chromebook will become the responsibility of that child through 8th grade.  Children will take their Chromebooks home daily and are expected to bring their Chromebook to school every day fully charged and ready for use.  Children are expected to use the Chromebook in accordance with BRSSD's Technology Use Agreement as well as Nesbit's Technology Use Agreement.  Broken and lost Chromebooks will not be replaced.  Therefore, children are highly encouraged to take the utmost of care with these Chromebooks.  Should a Chromebook become unusable, the responsible child will no longer have access to a Chromebook at home.  However, they will still have access to a Chromebook while at school.  Upon graduation from 8th grade, the Chromebook will be returned to Nesbit School.
