Ms. Hansen joined BRSSD in July of 2020. She has 24 years of experience in education having served as an elementary school teacher and administrator at the middle school level. Ms. Hansen is a student-centered leader dedicated to building school cultures that best support the social, emotional, and academic needs of all children. Her leadership is dedicated to supporting the teaching community and enriching parental involvement to collectively provide the best learning outcomes for all students.
Ms. Hansen began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Evergreen School District in San Jose. Working with primary students, she quickly developed a passion for literacy with a focus in teaching writing. As a teacher, Ms. Hansen found great joy inspiring students to find their voice, communicate their ideas, and express their opinions. These themes have remained true throughout Ms. Hansen's roles as an Instructional Coach, Teacher Induction Leader, Assistant Principal, Site Director, Middle School Principal, and in her current position as a TK-8 Principal.
Ms. Hansen is a New York native. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Molloy College and her Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Social Justice from California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). In May 2026, she earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice from Loyola Marymount University (LMU).
On a personal note, Ms. Hansen's favorite role is being a mother and a Nesbit Puma Parent. In July of 2018, her youngest daughter, Scarlett, who is a rising 5th grader at Nesbit School, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Scarlett successfully completed treatment September 27, 2020. Ms. Hansen and her family dedicate their time to raising pediatric cancer awareness. She also enjoys podcasts, live music, and sightseeing.
