English Language Advisory Committee
The English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) is composed of parents of English Learners and provides parents the opportunity to give advice and assist the school in the decision-making process concerning programs for (EL) students. ELAC is an elected body that is to be composed of no less than 25% of parents of English Learners. ELAC meets four times per year and is charged with advising the School Site Council on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement.
The purpose of the School Site Council (SSC) is to work with the school principal to develop, review and evaluate the school’s plan for assuring and improving academic achievement of all children – especially children of socioeconomically disadvantaged families and English language learners. The SSC, an elected body of representatives, reviews the principal’s plan for assuring achievement (called the Single Plan for Student Achievement or SPSA) as well as gives their vote of confidence on the principal’s Title I budget. SSC is to be composed of teachers, parents, principal and staff. Every year, members are voted into a two year term.
