Nesbit Elementary School Services
Students don’t always learn at the same pace, and it isn’t uncommon for a student to fall behind or struggle at some point in their academic career. Nesbit Elementary School cares about the well-being of every student and provides access to several services—including tutoring, mentoring, and counseling services—to help each student achieve to his or her highest potential.

Help your children succeed

Support Services
Student Study Team (SST): Students needing additional academic, social or emotional support in the school setting are referred to a Student Study Team. Referrals can be made by teachers, parents, or other school personnel. The Student Study Team consists of the child's teacher, the child's parents, and other school personnel including but not limited to the school counselor, psychologist, resource teacher, and/or school climate facilitator. The students' strengths and areas of concern are listed, as well as pertinent family or health information. The team works together to develop strategies and interventions to help the student become more successful at school.
Special Education Services: Occasionally students are referred by the Student Study Team for specialized testing to determine the qualifications for Special Education services. Parents must give written permission for testing and will meet the school personnel after the testing to discuss test results. Academic Intervention Programs: Nesbit has two
Conflict Resolution and Social Skills: Nesbit has a part-time School Climate Facilitator who is available to help students strengthen social develop and use conflict resolution skills to solve their problems.
Parent Outreach: Nesbit is fortunate to have a Parent Involvement Leadership Facilitator (PILF), contracted through Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center. The PILF is available to help parents become more involved in their child's academic career, to help parents navigate the educational system, and to help Spanish speaking parents communicate with the school.
