Family Match Event
Once again Nesbit Elementary will be holding its annual Family Math Event in the Multi Purpose Room. This is an afternoon of math, games, puzzles, and problem solving activities designed for children and adults to work together to resolve.
Our Family Math Event is based on the Lawrence Hall of Science model which focuses on providing awareness for the need of math, building confidence, and encouraging students to continue studying Math.
Children will learn different strategies to approach problems by using hands-on materials. We will have many simple and easy activities that you can also do at home.
Topics include arithmetic, geometry, probability, estimation, etc. These stations will be arranged by grade, K-1, 2-3, and 4-5, but feel free to move around and explore the other tables too and enjoy.
To attain full benefit in a learning setting, children must be accompanied by an adult.
Most of all, we’d like you to come and have fun with your child!!!

Multi-Cultural Potluck and Silent Auction a Huge Success!
Thanks to all who came to our Multi-Cultural Potluck and Silent Auction last Friday. The food was delicious, the room was packed, and we made more money than anticipated: $6,900 and counting! Don't fret if you weren't able to attend. There are still some items available for purchase.
Look for the flyer in our Wednesday folders for more info. The evening couldn't have been possible without the help of our wonderful teachers, parents, students, and two committees. Thank you to Andy Eliopoulos for being our announcer, Cecilia Canale and Ruth Ann Abbott for organizing the potluck and thanks to Rebecca Baker, Melody Chan, and Mindy Shelton for all of their hard work with the auction.
What an awesome job!
